๐ Random Death Match (RDM)
Random Death Match (RDM) is the act of killing, attacking, or escalating to lethal violence without proper roleplay progression, believable reasoning, or valid hostile escalation.
In Zephyr, violence should be the result of developing roleplay, tension, escalation, or ongoing conflict โ not impulsive actions or low-effort interactions.
Proper Escalation Is Required
Unless covered by approved KOS rules, Red Zone rules, or active hostile conflicts, players are expected to follow proper escalation before initiating lethal violence.
This includes:
- Meaningful interaction
- Clear hostile intent or declaration
- Believable RP progression
- Realistic reasoning for escalation
Examples of valid escalation may include:
- Ongoing gang conflict or active KOS
- Territorial or market disputes
- Failed negotiations or sit-downs
- Escalating physical conflict
- Robberies or organised criminal activity
- Retaliation connected to ongoing hostile RP
Declaration Requirements
If your intended RP outcome may lead to lethal violence, hostile intent must be made reasonably clear through roleplay before escalation occurs.
Examples may include:
- Threats
- Demands
- Confrontations
- Physical escalation
- Organised hostile engagement
Low-effort interactions alone may still be considered insufficient escalation.
Examples:
- โOn sightโ
- โYouโre deadโ
- Single-line bait comments
- Random threats with no RP follow-up
Examples of RDM
The following are considered RDM and are not allowed:
- Killing players with little or no RP progression
- Escalating directly to gunfire over minor interactions
- Ambushing uninvolved players without proper RP context
- Using weak excuses to justify violence
- Killing purely for loot, convenience, or entertainment
- Using ongoing conflict as an excuse to attack uninvolved players
Ongoing Conflict Does Not Remove RP Standards
Even during gang conflict, hostility, or KOS, players are still expected to:
- Act realistically
- Maintain believable RP
- Understand escalation and consequences
- Avoid low-quality โPvP firstโ behaviour
Being involved in hostile RP does not give permission to ignore server rules or engage in unrealistic violence.
Staff Discretion
Staff may still rule a situation as RDM if:
- The escalation is clearly unrealistic
- The RP quality is extremely poor
- The interaction exists purely to justify violence
- Players are abusing technical wording or loopholes
High-quality roleplay, realism, and server health will always take priority over technical rule arguments.
