π£ Escalation & Standing Your Ground Rules
In Zephyr Roleplay, conflict is about building tension, telling a story, and creating meaningful roleplay β not rushing straight into shootouts. Gang conflict should progress naturally, with each stage allowing room for RP, consequences, and resolution.
Failure to follow proper escalation may result in staff intervention and may impact the progression of your group.
π£οΈ 1. Verbal Escalation β Words First
All conflict must begin with roleplay and conversation.
- Leaders are expected to make genuine attempts to resolve issues through meetings, confrontations, or sit-downs.
- Hostilities cannot begin without clear in-city reasoning or interaction.
- Disrespect, tension, ego, or ongoing disputes are valid reasons for conflict β but they must be roleplayed properly.
Examples:
- Calling a meeting to settle issues
- Pressuring another group over territory or business
- Threats, intimidation, or demands
Conflict should feel like a developing story, not random violence.
π₯ 2. Physical Escalation β Show of Strength
If talks fail, conflict may escalate into physical violence.
This includes:
- Fist fights
- Melee weapons
- Gang-on-gang scraps
- Physical intimidation or beatings
This stage should still allow opportunities for resolution and further roleplay before firearms are introduced.
Important
- Some conflicts may naturally end during this phase without progressing further.
- Even if tensions continue rising, players are still expected to roleplay fear, pressure, anger, and consequences realistically.
- If the original cause of the conflict began with shooting this can be cause to move through this step quicker eg, taking hostages, robbing.
This does not mean every scenario involving guns needs to skip to guns, meetings can still be held and meleeβs/fist fights can be used.
A fight should build the story β not skip it.
π« 3. Firearm Escalation β Point of No Return
Only after proper escalation through roleplay and physical conflict may situations escalate into firearms.
Examples include:
- Shootouts
- Drive-bys
- Armed ambushes
Requirements
- Firearm escalation must be properly justified through prior RP.
- Silent killings, instant wipeouts, or random βon sightβ behaviour without meaningful lead-up are not considered quality RP.
- Conflict should feel earned and story-driven.
Examples of acceptable escalation:
- Sending threats through captured members
- Injuring members to send a message
- Applying pressure through meaningful RP interactions
Once firearms are introduced, the conflict becomes significantly more serious and should be treated as such by all parties involved.
You are ALWAYS required to declare intent to shoot.
β οΈ Fear RP & Standing Your Ground
Players are always expected to value their life and roleplay fear realistically.
If you are:
- Outnumbered
- Held at gunpoint
- Injured
- Ambushed
- At a clear disadvantage
You are expected to react appropriately and realistically. Ignoring danger or acting invincible will be treated as Fail Fear RP.
However, standing your ground is allowed in specific situations.
π΄ Defending Turf, Markets & Territory
Groups are permitted to stand their ground when defending things that directly belong to or impact their organisation, including:
- Turf
- Territory
- Controlled markets
- Benches
- Drug operations
- Ongoing business interests
This means it is NOT automatically considered Fail Fear RP to retaliate, resist demands, or defend your organisation during meetings or confrontations relating to those interests.
For example:
- Refusing to hand over territory
- Defending a controlled market
- Retaliating during a hostile sit-down regarding turf or business
However, standing your ground does NOT mean:
- Ignoring roleplay
- Acting without fear entirely
- Refusing to engage with the scene realistically
- Treating your character as fearless or invincible
You are still expected to:
- Roleplay pressure and danger
- React realistically to injuries or losses
- Continue meaningful RP throughout the scene
Standing your ground may still result in deaths, injuries, kidnappings, or major losses β and those consequences must be roleplayed properly.
π High Quality RP Is Expected From Both Sides
For the Instigating Group
- Apply pressure realistically.
- Threats, torture, violence, or killings must have proper RP weight and purpose.
- Actions should create story progression, not exist purely for shock value.
For the Defending Group
- Treat losses and injuries seriously.
- Roleplay emotional reactions appropriately.
- Do not shrug off torture, shootings, or deaths unrealistically.
Conflict should create immersive, emotional, and memorable roleplay for everyone involved.
Fear the danger. Defend whatβs yours. Keep the RP moving.
